Mutton Pulao | Tasty and simple recipe Mutton Rice recipe


Mutton – 1.5 kg
Oil- 4 tbsp
Cumin/Jeera seeds – 2 tsp
Cardamom – 4
Fennel/Saunf seeds – 1/2 tsp
Onions- 4
Ginger Garlic paste – 1.5 tbsp
Green chilli paste – 1 tsp
Curd/Dahi- 1.5 cup whisked
Jeera powder- 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Salt as per taste
Basmati Rice – 2.5 cups
Ghee- 1/4th cup
Bay leaf- 3
Water- 1/2 cup to pressure cook meat
Water – 4.5 cups(for pulao)

-Wash and soak rice for 20 mins.
-Heat pressure cook, add oil, jeera, cardamom, fennel seeds and allow to splutter.
-Add 2 sliced onions and fry till brown
-Add mutton and salt and fry till brown.
-Add Ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste , fry for a bit, add whisked curd and mix well. Add 1/2 cup water and pressure cook meat, after 1 whistle, lower the heat and cook on low flame for about 15 mins till meat is cooked. Keep aside
-Heat a pan, add ghee, jeera seeds, bay leaf and onions and fry till brown, remove 1/4th of fried onions for later use to garnish (optional)
-Add meat, add jeera, coriander and Garam masala and fry well.
-add the strained rice and fry for a few mins stirring gently.
-Add 4.5 cups of water
-Add salt, mix gently and once it comes to a good boil, lower the heat and cook for about 8-10 mins till well cooked.
-Serve with some raita and chutney
